Meet RapidGator for Android, the Latest Cloud Storage App With 4TB Free Storage Space in The Market

With Google Drive, Amazon Cloud Drive, Dropbox and so many others in the market, there is certainly no shortage of cloud storage solutions to choose from. RapidGator has been offering its users a top file hosting service since 2010, and has millions of satisfied customers using their service to store files of all sizes. Now Android users can add one more to their list of possibilities, taking the increasingly popular RapidGator into the fray. While it might seem like just a thirteen in a dozen product in the category at first glance, RapidGator sets itself apart by offering a whopping 4TB of free storage to its users. In comparison, most of its competitors offer about 5GB of free storage space. That said, it’s worth noting that the free account comes with quite a few limitations, such as a 2GB limit for files.

Meet RapidGator for Android, the latest cloud storage app around

As for the interface of the RapidGator app, it mainly consists of a clean dashboard with all your files and folders stored in the cloud, and it has a menu of basic functions that scrolls from the bottom to the top. While it may not be the most attractive or modern Android app interface, it works in both portrait and landscape mode and is easy to navigate.

There is also an ever-present search button at the top of the screen, which can help you quickly find items no matter where you are in your file system. One thing I like is that your file lists show image thumbnails instead of generic icons. This makes it easy to quickly browse photos if you are looking for something specific. Of course, if you don’t like the thumbnails, always turn them off from the Settings screen.

While it’s certainly a breeze to add files to your RapidGator account from the web, the Android app makes it almost as easy from your mobile device. The slider menu at the bottom of the screen allows you to upload photos from your gallery, or take photos or record video and automatically save them to your RapidGator account.

There is even a built-in file browser, which allows you to upload from other parts of your file system. In my tests, RapidGator synced files to the cloud reliably and almost instantly, whether adding files from the mobile app or from the desktop.

To keep things organized, RapidGator provides buttons for creating new folders and moving or renaming items as needed. Fortunately, the ability to upload items in batches is cool, which is quite amazing given the 4 TB storage space available as a free user.

To manipulate individual items in RapidGator, simply tap the small arrow next to one of your file list. The arrow displays options to move, rename, delete, or download files, or even make files private. It also includes your all-important sharing options. With RapidGator, you can easily share file download links directly with other applications you have installed, such as Gmail, Drive, Pocket, Facebook, or Evernote. You can also copy the download link directly to your clipboard to paste elsewhere. While this Share feature is certainly one of RapidGator’s most useful tools, I would still like to see an export feature similar to Dropbox’s that allows you to attach files directly to emails.
